We don’t have fences separating you from the experience here. On this walk you’ll get up close and personal with two of our fully-grown African lions. And by the end, you’ll know what it’s like to be part of the pride.

For once the words “a walk on the wild side” are worthy of putting on your bucket list. Join us for the surreal experience of walking with fully-grown African lions. And walk away with a deeper understanding of these incredible animals not through words, but through the moments you share with them.

You’ll meet your guides at reception and take a short walk into the bush where you’ll have a safety briefing. When you’re ready, you’ll be joined by the rest of the team – and two lions! The walk takes you on a loop through the conservancy for about 45 minutes to an hour with photo opportunities along the way. Nerves are to be expected, but by the end of the walk you’ll feel like part of the pride and be left with a memory you’ll never forget.

  • Learn about the majestic African lion without fences or game vehicles getting in the way.
  • All our guides know the lions well. So they know that the key to a safe lion walk is respecting the animals and understanding that they are wild animals who are letting us share in their company.
  • No need to bring along cameras – one of our guides will take all the photos you could ever need that will then be emailed to you afterwards.
  • It's an incredible experience to tell your friends about – just as long as you're not left permanently speechless!

  • Full day in Kruger National Park on open gameviewer
  • 3 hour Motlala Game Reserve drive
  • Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre
  • Scenic highlights of Blyde River Canyon

DAY ONE : Pick up from your hotel in Johannesburg or Johannesburg Airport and travel via the Highveld grasslands to the subtropical Lowveld. At Tremisana Game Lodge in the Balule section of the Kruger National Park, unwind at the bar, enjoy a refreshing dip in our pool and relax in the beautiful tropical gardens. Board an open Landcruiser for a 3h Sunset Drive, your first opportunity to experience the varied fauna and flora of Africa. Watch the magnificent African sunset and, after dark, use spotlights to locate nocturnal animals. Dinner will be an unforgettable BUSH BRAAI in the Marula Tree Boma deep in the African bush. Continue the night drive after dinner and overnight in comfortable en suite chalet at Tremisana Lodge.

DAY TWO : At sunrise drive to a remote spot to enjoy a 4h Bush Walk. Your ranger will lead you through the bush at a pace you can handle. The thrill of following big animals will remain with you forever. Adrenalin surges will be acute, even if your ranger is adequately armed. Return to Tremisana for brunch. Lunch is served at 13h30. At around 14h30 we enjoy an afternoon game drive. Transfer to Marc’s Treehouse Lodge where accommodation is in romantic and fascinating treehouses. Dinner in the open Boma. Overnight in your fascinating Treehouse.

DAY THREE : Drive to the Orpen Gate of Kruger on a custombuilt open-sided Gameviewer. You will have an opportunity to view game without intervening glass windows and also listen to and smell the denizens of the bush. We have regular stops at picnic spots, restcamps and places of interest. The Orpen-Satara-Nwanedzi region’s open plains attract large herds of zebra, giraffe and antelope that, in turn, attract many predators. In fact this zone has the highest concentration of lions in Africa.

DAY FOUR : After breakfast, we travel to the Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre for injured and orphaned animals and birds. You will have an opportunity to get close and personal to some of the residents, including lions and leopards. After lunch you drive to Marc's Treehouse Lodge. At around 15h00, enjoy an open vehicle game drive in the Motlala Game Reserve. Return to Marc’s Treehouse Lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY FIVE : Enjoy a Sunrise Walk. After breakfast, drive via the Panorama Route to see the scenic splendours including the Three Rondawels and the Blyde River Canyon. We return to Gauteng in the late afternoon. Airport drop-off by arrangement.
